Initial Visit

Step 1 - Diet

Limit excess sugar

We recommend you eat foods that are low in refined sugar and avoid processed carbohydrates. This is referred to as a low-glycemic diet.

Step 2 - Portion size

To help you choose the correct portion or serving size, you must practice a technique called visualization. This is sometimes referred to by its psychological name: cognitive behavioral therapy.

Step 3 - Increase your metabolism

Usually this means we increase our energy levels with exercise at least five days per week. Physical activity not only burns calories, but increases levels of certain satiety hormones, such as PYY (peptide YY) and CRF (corticotropin releasing factor), and reduces leptin resistance.

When nutrition and exercise are not yielding the desired weight loss results, patients may find there are numerous other factors that can affect weight loss or gain, including hormonal issues (leptin and ghrelin), genetics, age, gender, medications you are prescribed, and current medical conditions you are combating.
